“Perks” of Maintaining Your Air Conditioner

Maintaining your air conditioner is not a good idea, it’s a excellent idea.

Isn’t is just the most thrilling thing when it’s 100 degrees outside and your Air Conditioner decides to call in sick that day? Leaving you to handle whatever issue is going on and having to call in your local HVAC Contractor. Take a look at the young man below, it’s summer time and he needs not be worried about being cool in the summer. But, for some reason, he is….

How about when it’s winter time. Do you want to be cold & shivering under twenty blankets? Or would you rather be cuddled up on the couch, drinking some hot chocolate, and enjoying family time? Seems like an easy answer, Right? The gentleman in the green jimmies below, is clearly having some HVAC issues and not able to enjoy anything mentioned.

Other than being cool in the summer and warm in the winter, there are a MANY MORE PERKS to maintaining your HVAC system.

Over a years time, dirt builds up on the coil. While the filter helps to slow down the soiling process, the dirt will still find it’s way to your coils. Dirt on coils decreases your airflow, and insulates the coil. As far as the outside coils, they too, become very dirty. Mowing the grass, leaves falling from trees, and wind blowing dust….these all contribute to the dirt build up on the coils.

When regular PM’s are done, you will achieve the following:

  • Preventing costly breakdowns
  • Reducing energy costs
  • Extending the life of the equipment
  • Improving system performance
  • Making the system safer

One of the ways to accomplish these goals are to clean and coat your HVAC system with products that will not eat away at your coils, nor inhibit heat transfer.

Say hello to a Coil Cleaning Kit. It has everything you need to solve any build up problems on your coils. Better yet, it will last a full year. It comes with our Instant Powder Kegs coil cleaner and First Strike Micro Coat easy to use annual coating.

Instant Powder Kegs is a powdered coil cleaner, that is easy to use, clean up and transport. Just mix with water, spray on and rinse. The coil cleaner is removing the dirt and build up on the coils. Then, apply the First Strike Micro Coat which is an annual coating that will repel anything from sticking to your coil. Leaving you with a years worth of protection on your coil.

If you’ve ever asked a customer, “Do you want a lower energy bill and better air quality?” you know the answer to both is, “Yes!!” Customers want to save money on utility bills and they want the best, cleanest and coolest air for their businesses, homes and families.

What’s one way to give them that? Clean coils! Clean air conditioner coils have a number of benefits. Here are just a few:

  • They make your HVAC unit last longer.
  • They improve airflow and air quality.
  • They improve heat transfer.
  • They cut back on energy costs.

It sure is nice to have a little extra money in your pocket. And not only that, clean coils can prevent a unit from freezing up, a problem that could shut down your cool air for a while and cost you money in repairs. What are other downsides of dirty coils?

  • Decreased airflow
  • Lower air quality
  • Can lead to rusting, bacteria or mold growth
  • Can cause freezing of the unit

To prevent these problems, be sure to get your coils cleaned once a year or every six months. In really nasty environments with lots of dirt and grease, they might need cleaning more often. The best thing is to ask an HVAC professional, and sign up for a regular maintenance program. That way you won’t forget and your air will stay cool and clean.

Cleaning Coils Can Add Business for Contractors

For all our contractor friends, cleaning coils isn’t a tough job. We make a product that does most of the work for you. Powder Kegs are a powdered coil cleaner we make that is much cheaper than other coil cleaners on the market. Just mix it with water in a pump sprayer, spray it on your coils and then rinse off.

Keep in mind, you can add value for your customer by adding coil cleaning to your maintenance programs, if you haven’t already. It’ll keep your client happy, help them save money, and protect their coils from a potential mess. It’s just one more way for your business to grow and help your customers stay cool at the same time!

Product Unleashed: “CRT’s Dirty Sox Kit Nose Best”

Have you ever walked into a business or home and automatically thought, “Wow! I smell feet.” I can almost, ALMOST guarantee you it is not your clothes, it is not you, it is not the person you are doing business with, or even the homeowner.

In most cases, it is that this individual’s building or home is suffering from Dirty Sock Syndrome. This does not mean that you have dirty laundry of some sort, though, if not contained will eventually transfer to your clothing and other surroundings. Dirty Sock Syndrome is a case where the HVAC system coils and other components have accumulated mold and other fungus due to microbes being in constant moisture from your HVAC’s condensation.

dirtysockss

Because our sense of smell is one of the biggest factors in our sense of comfort, Dirty Sock Syndrome (DSS) can be devastating to a family’s home, or place of business. Would you agree that “Home Sweet Home” does not exist if you too have “Dirty Sock Syndrome”? Home is where we go for comfort, where you raise your children, where you go to rest your head after a long days’ work. Not only will DSS cause you to become aggravated, it could also cause irritation to your nose, eyes, and throat.

If your business attracts Dirty Sock Syndrome (Especially where dealing with the public), it’s a given that inflow will drastically decrease until’ the smell is extinct.

The tricky thing to keep in mind is that a lot of products on the market do not work to eliminate the odor, but instead work as a temporary cover up. So, purchasing the wrong product could ultimately result in spending large amounts of unnecessary money.

The reasons above are why CRT developed an easy to follow, step-by-step, kit to end Dirty Sock Syndrome. CRT’s “Dirty Sox Kit” eliminates the odor by starting at the source of the problem – Ridding the unit of the already settled microbes. After cleaning any remaining debris from the coils with the provided coil cleaner, complete sanitation of the unit. Lastly, apply the coil coating to protect it from bacteria between cleanings.

With only a once a year application! CRT’s Dirty Sox Kit “nose” best!

I have attached step-by-step instructions below. If you have any questions, please leave me comments below. 🙂

5. Tips From the Girls: Consequences of NOT Receiving Maintenance

“A dirty air filter can cause all sort of problems in the system’s performance. A dirty air filter decreases the power the engine needs to run efficiently. If left neglected, the dirty air filter will began to leak dust and sand into your engine causing bad seals, oil leaks, and oil burning.

If you were to go for a run, with your hand over your mouth and with your nose pinched shut, how far would you go? Engines need air too.”
