Consistency is KEY

“Success isn’t always about ‘greatness’. Its about consistency. Consistent hard work gains success. Greatness will come.” – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

I hate to disappoint The Rock but  – The ONLY THING I consistently do is drink my coffee every morning. However, The Rock would be very happy to know that I have not only found success by drinking my coffee but also that greatness comes from me drinking my coffee!

Warning: This blog consistently uses the word consistent! Related image

On a more serious note. In my seven years of working at Controlled Release Technologies, one specific client of ours has stood out for their consistency. I believe they have set the bar and hung the moon for success in this area.

Here is how they did it! Read on my friends.

EM Cahill has released 64 quarterly newsletters since 2001. Not only have they released that amount of newsletters but they have also released them consistently. We can add organization to their list of traits because you can see their newsletter directory here

“In the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, EM Cahill sends out a quarterly newsletter titled “The IAQ Review”. The main purpose of their newsletter is to keep their clients informed on the many changes happening in the industry. New products, testimonials, and ongoing filter trials are just a few of the many great topics they’ve introduced in the past.”

Now my favorite part…

“The IAQ review has been consistently released every three months for the past 15 years.”

Did you catch the word consistently? Most importantly did you catch “the past 15 years” part?

How many of us could use improvement in this area of our lives? How much more successful could we be if we were a little bit more consistent. As companies and individuals, we should strive (and always be looking) for ways to not only succeed but be GREAT!

One of my favorite quotes is by William Shakespeare. I did a blog several years ago about greatness. You can check it out here

It’s normal to hear “Be Different” or “Dare To Stand Out” today. However, I challenge each of us (in this case) to follow suite of EM Cahill by being consistent.

We want to also extend an extra special thanks to EM Cahill for setting the example for us in this industry and including us as a feature. In this day and time, relationships like this mean the world to us. It’s not just a B2B relationship but a FRIENDSHIP.

At Controlled Release Technologies our mission is to provide all HVAC users with innovative, proactive solutions to preventable HVAC problems.

7 Years & Counting

What do you know about your heating & air?

If you’re anything like me, the only thing I used to know about my air conditioner was to turn it on or off.

In 2010, I started working for Controlled Release Technologies. From that moment on, everything I had ever thought about HVAC has changed (for the better).

Fast forward 7 years of being with CRT and a part of the HVAC Industry!

Shandi Maddox – Sales Representative –

Here are just a few of the many things I have learned.

  • How vast the HVAC industry is.
  • How the system works.
  • Why it is important to maintain the HVAC unit.
  • How to protect investments.
  • How our products help with preventative maintenance.

Thankfully, I have had the honor of  working among the most knowledgable people in the industry & every single day I get to learn about HVAC and meet new individuals. By far, my favorite thing about working for Controlled Release these last 7 years has been creating life-long relationships with my “friends” (not clients but friends). I look forward to the years to come!

Last week, we had the pleasure of exhibiting at the 2016 NADCA Annual Meeting, held at the Wigwam Resort in Phoenix, AZ. Many of our clients are NADCA members, so this show is something we look forward to each year.

(President of CRT- Lynn Burkhart, Assistant Executive Director- Rachelle Cunningham, and President of KM Facilities- Kevin Uilkie)

NADCA has really stepped up their level of professionalism over the past few years! The Wigwam Resort is an extremely beautiful facility, with great food and exceptionally good service. The exhibit hall was split into 2 different rooms, which was different, but not in a bad way. I saw some of the same old vendors, and was delighted to see some new people too!

I have been exhibiting at this show for at least 15 years, but have never sat in an any of the meetings or classes. For some reason, this year I sat through a few and actually learned quite a bit. One memorable class was, Dryer Vents: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I know it sounds boring, but by the end of the class, I was freaked out about my dryer’s ventilation and lint content! Who really thinks about that?!? I’ll tell you one thing: sit through that class and YOU will think about it! Between possible carbon monoxide poisoning killing you in your sleep or lint accumulation starting a fire that can burn down your house, EVERYONE should think about that! 25719665891_cb3b5c3959_z.jpg

NADCA is gaining momentum in getting people trained and certified in duct cleaning and air handler restoration. They are truly concerned about scamming companies, who advertise $49 duct cleaning to homeowners, but then go in and quote hundreds of dollars to fix “air duct problems”, and ultimately only pretend to do the work. It was neat to see that NADCA actually worked with the tv show Inside Edition to set up a house to catch these scamming companies. Check it out here:

In September, we will be participating in their Fall Technical Training Conference for the first time. I am very excited about being a part of such a great organization!

We are so proud to announce that BUILDINGS magazine has selected our product, Pancrete, as a 2015 Money-Saving Product winner! Pancrete is part of an elite group of 83 products showcased in the magazine’s June 2015 issue. You can find our product under “HVAC Fixes” on page 40 of the print magazine, or you can see it on their website here:–2015-Money-Saving-Products/4.aspx. Below is a photo of a fresh, new installation of Pancrete, a self-leveling HVAC pan coating that allows the system to resume operation just 4-6 hours after application! It cures to a smooth enamel surface that resists fungus and bacteria and fills in rusty surfaces, resulting in a finished product that is corrosion-proof even under water.

CRT Wins Social Media Contest: Most Pup-ular Story!

Last week, Acme Controls held a contest on social media to guess which story in their news page was the most popular! Guess who won? We did! A big thanks to Acme Controls! They’re a Chicago-based distributor and repairer of HVAC, boiler and industrial electronic parts for contractors, facility managers and lines of manufacturing. Check out their website here:

So what was the winning story? A man recently built his dog an air-conditioned bed, because she was getting hot outside and digging up the flower bed to lay on the cool ground. Isn’t she cute?

Read the full story (with instructions for building your own AC dog bed, if you’re interested) over at:! And once again, thanks to Acme Controls for running the contest. We’ll be receiving our winnings — a hat! — in the mail soon. We look forward to sharing it with you all.

Update on June 4, 2015:

Our hat came in the mail today! Our social media manager, Molly Tessnear, is wearing the hat, while our client services representative, Candice Eaker, rocks out in front of our product display table. Awesome!
