Below is a blog written by our Assistant Executive Director- Rachelle Tinley in October 2011. Wanted to reshare this blog for you, in honor of #FBF #FlashbackFriday .

Every year, during the fall and spring months, we get multiple calls from distraught homeowners, worried about foul odors coming from their central heating and air units. One such call came in two years ago, from an older gentleman in Texas.

For almost an hour, he spoke with our customer service representative, describing his exhausting experience dealing with the stench known in the industry as Dirty Sock Syndrome. Nothing he had done seemed to help, including replacing his unit, cleaning his ducts, cleaning and replacing his carpets, and calling in multiple HVAC contractors looking for an answer. His next step was going to be to sell his house! As a last effort, he called up his unit manufacturer. Amana then told him about our Dirty Sox Kit.

Within a couple of days his local contractor applied the Dirty Sox Kit to his unit. About a month later, our customer service representative received a long, handwritten letter from the man. It was filled with gratitude and praise, not only for the service he received from her, but for the performance of the Dirty Sox Kit. It seemed like the kit was a lifesaver for his family! Our rep was so touched by the letter that she proudly read it aloud, and kept it hung up at her desk.

When homeowners switch their units from cooling to heating, unexpected odor issues can arise. At CRT, we are happy that our low cost, Dirty Sox Kit can solve this problem!
