Product Spotlight: Is that Alka-Seltzer? Fail.

One comment

Have you ever seen alka-seltzer placed in a cup of water? Watch this video, and see that within seconds the alka-seltzer dissolves.

These days everyone in our society is looking for the best, quickest, and easiest. Let’s face it, if you can have the best thing out there and it’s also the quickest and easiest, you’re going for it. The problem is when choosing the quickest and easiest, the best quality is not always an attribute. Sadly, what has occurred regarding HVAC condensate drain pans is that everyone chooses the quick and easy tablet verses the quality of a timed-release product.

Much like alka-seltzer, HVAC tablets placed in condensate pans begin to dissolve immediately. However, these tablets last a bit longer, but disappear within the first week or so. This might address the problem for the short-term, but who’s going to remember or want to revisit that drain 6 times a month? Besides, these tablets contain chlorine, which further corrodes the condensate pan and shortens the time until a repair or system replacement is needed. So instead of solving the problem associated with pan overflows, now these tablets have just added additional work and headaches.

But don’t fear, Timed-Release technology is your solution. The products listed below were the very first timed-release products developed for HVAC drain pans and evaporative coolers. The ingredients are suspended in a polymer strip, and as water flows through the product the ingredients are released. If no water is flowing through the product, then no ingredients are released. This doesn’t hold true for tablets. Tablets aren’t engineered to stop releasing ingredients whereas timed-release products are.

PanGuard, developed in 1985, is the FIRST timed-release technology for condensate drain pans. Over two years was spent in the initial development and testing, and improvements are still being made to keep PanGuard ahead of the pack, including a reformulation to make PanGuard a certified GREEN product.

Cooler Guard is the FIRST timed-release maintenance for evaporative coolers. Almost a year in development and two months of field test results combined to make the product effective against scale deposits.

So, what are you really costing yourself by choosing tablets? In 10 years, what will your pan look like by using a tablet? Are you really getting the quality protection you need to keep the drain pan free from yuck? Did you know the yuck in the pan is actually in the air that you breathe?

Are you ready to place money IN your pocket instead of always dishing it out? If so, give us a call and we can give you the timed-release treatment.
