Algae Guard Is the HVAC industry’s #1 timed-release, EPA-registered, drain pan treatment. For the first time, Algae Guard is now available for use in California.
“This is a momentous occasion for our company,” said Assistant Executive Director Rachelle Tinley. “California guidelines for EPA products are the strictest in the nation, and the fact that Algae Guard passes their inspection, really says a lot about not only the safety of our product, but also its effectiveness in getting the job done.”
For the past 18 years Algae Guard, along with its sister product PanGuard, have been protecting buildings from costly water damages and maintenance expenditures. Algae Guard eliminates clogs and overflows due to mold and fungus accumulation in HVAC condensate pans.
“Air handler units, by design, accumulate water and particles found in the air, which then build up in condensate pans and basins,” said CRT President and Founder Lynn Burkhart. “Water damage from an HVAC system can go unnoticed until it is too late, requiring vast repairs, destruction of property and even safety concerns once a remediation mold specialist is needed.”
Because constant cleaning and inspection of these areas by personnel is neither feasible nor practical, Burkhart believed the solution was making a better product.
“At the time, the only option was using chlorine tablets, which dissolve quickly and are only effective for a couple of days,” said Burkhart. “Technicians either ignored the problem or were treating the pans every few days, costing a ton in labor and time. So I developed a timed-release strip, that has been proven to provide continuous, hassle-free protection for months on end.”
Algae Guard comes in both 3 and 6 month treatments, and is available in various sizes to meet the needs of all tonnage units. Once a condensate drip pan has been cleaned and treated, users can rest assured that their assets are protected. Algae Guard is registered for use in drain pans of air conditioners, sumps of evaporative coolers, floor drains, ice machine drains and soft drink dispenser drains.
“It’s great knowing that our products have helped so many different companies,” said Tinley. “From the National Archives Museum in DC, to the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, to the office building right down the street, CRT products are protecting buildings and providing HVAC maintenance. Now Californians get to experience what Algae Guard offers.”
