Case in Point: Ecoline Industrial Supply

Have you ever thought, “What’s In It For Me?” Society has a way of creating the mindset that “it’s all about me.” Well why wouldn’t you want it to be all about you? You want a Friday off, you deserve an extra week paid vacation, you need a bonus this Christmas; the list could go on & on forever. Let’s face it, we are selfish human beings.

In the business world, we are all looking for ways to get ahead. Well, I have your solution! Get ready folks. (Yes, I am southern so I can say folks, right?) The solution to get ahead in the business world, regardless of your market or industry, is to put yourself LAST. Yes, put yourself last and place your client’s needs above everything else.

How do you do this? Simply skip that extra cup of coffee and call Bob over at Chevrolet to see what he needs today. Ignore your long list of to-do’s and send Sally at Applebee’s a Thank You card for being such an awesome restaurant manager. When Gary at HVAC Plus calls to request a ship date, let him hear you smiling as you give him the ship date as well as the tracking information and the estimated delivery date. Go the extra mile with all communications, and show you truly care.

I know it sounds a little far-fetched, but these little actions really go a long way. Here is a letter I recently received from a client, Ecoline Industrial Supply, Inc.. Ecoline (found at www.goecoline.com) is a phenomenal client to talk to, and when your clients are your friends you know you have a fantastic job.

Would you like to hear this same feedback from your clients? Sometimes it just takes staying at work 15 minutes later to take care of a client. Just 15 extra minutes, and now I have a client raving about Controlled Release Technologies.

I would love to hear some of the things that you have done to provide exceptional service. Call me and tell me how you went the extra mile. If you don’t have time to pick up the phone, comment below and tell me all about you!
