The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) held their annual conference and expo October 2-4, in Philadelphia, PA. CRT was just one of the close to 300 exhibitors and 4,000 attendees of IFMA’s World Workplace 2013. From NC to PA, we had a ten hour drive, but it was well worth the wait to exhibit at the IFMA show.
The theme this year was advancing business to get results. It was easy to see, even among the 1000s of facility managers, engineers, and designers, that everyone was looking for solutions. There were even sections on the floor called Solutions Arenas, holding seminars and educational sessions throughout the day dealing with business strategy, disaster preparedness, project management and communication.
In regards to the HVAC Industry, the most common problems/solutions were Restoration and Indoor Air Quality. Almost every single person that walked by our booth was truly interested in how to “better” their facility. Aside from our awesome ribbons that we use to add a little fun to the madness of walking around for hours, our V570 and Pancrete, which are permanent resurfacers for HVAC Air Handler Units, were the biggest hit.
Everyone that stopped by seemed to have a condensate pan or cooling tower that was “past the point of no return.” To their surprise, we had a solution that could save them tons of money by not having to remove and replace the system. Some attendees were even upset that there is such a solution, because they had just spent a lot of money to replace their entire system when the problem was just the pan or bottom of the cooling tower.
We had Facility Managers from New Zealand, Nigeria, California, and even North Carolina dragging their friends and acquaintances back to our booth just to show off our V570 and Pancrete before & after pan. It was truly wonderful to see how our products could benefit them.
Perhaps you’ve recently attended a show that yielded great results, or gave you an insight into another industry or association. If so, we’d love to hear about it in the comments section below.
